Digital Icon Pattern - Adobe Illustrator Final Project

This pattern design was the first ever final project I completed with Adobe Illustrator. We were instructed to create icons that could be formed into a swatch that replicates a part of our identity. I really identify with alternative rock so I decided to create icons representing different bands! The gray scale was used with the colors to get a better variety of shades and depth for each icon.

Witch Gathering - Adobe Photoshop Final Project

Similar to the icons project, this is the first ever final project I had to create in Adobe Photoshop. We were told to make an unrealistic scene look "realistic", so I chose to do a gathering of witches outside of a decrepit house! Smoke and fog was included to give the piece an eerie mood, and I also made alterations to the sky so it would be nighttime instead of day. All backgrounds and other resources were found on free-use websites like Pixabay and Unsplash.

Original Character Barbie Movie Mugshot Trend - PaintTool SAI

During the peak of the Barbie movie mugshot trend, I decided to create one of my own. The girl in the picture is one of my original characters named Lauren. Using PaintTool SAI to create the illustration, I went for cooler-toned colors to hone in on the cartoonishly-shocked look on her face about being arrested; much similar to Margot Robbie's stunned face in the promotional mugshot photos.

First Ball Animation - Adobe Animate

This is my first ever go at using Adobe Animate. Since I aspire to be an animator, I am making it my goal to learn how to use this program outside of any classes I may take to learn it. Naturally, I decided for my first ever test to be a ball bouncing off a table. I used a classic tween with easing to make the motion of the stick pulling back to push the ball, and I used a motion tween to animate the ball bouncing. It isn't much, but I am super glad I was able to navigate my way through the application!

Junkrats Characters W.I.P - PaintTool SAI

I thought it would be nice to include a piece that I am currently working on. Similar to the drawing above, the girl on the left is Lauren and the character on the right is her friend Kiefer. I drew this mainly to test out character design & color schemes I would like to use for them. The background is supposed to be the format of a run-down auto shop in a junkyard located in their town. Since they live in the bayous of Louisiana, I want to use a warmer color scheme to capture the heat and humidity of their environment.

Still-Life Charcoal Drawing - Traditional

In the fall of 2023 I was required to take a 2 & 3 dimensional drawing course. In that class I had the amazing opportunity to try charcoal drawing for the first time. This was the final of a still-life we had to draw. It was a very fun (yet very challenging) project to take on, but I want to improve my charcoal drawing skills in the future! It is a very unique medium that I wish I explored sooner.

Career Backpack 5/6/2024 Graphic - Adobe Illustrator

This was a graphic I made for our final edition of Career Backpack for the 2023-2024 school year. Using a mix of the University of Minnesota's branding color scheme (and some additional contrasting colors), I made a beachy-sunseteque graphic to encapture the feeling of warm and relaxed vibes that come with summer!

Van Gogh’s Café Terrace at Night Modular Analysis - Adobe Illustrator

Color theory is one of the courses I had to take for spring 2024. This is the first official assignment we were given which is to create a modular representation of a chosen "master artwork" using only the colors black, white, and gray. The one I chose was Café Terrace at Night painted by Van Gogh. Using the live paint bucket tool on Illustrator, we had to split the page into a grid and find ways to have the viewer's eyes roam around the piece but to avoid overallness in our work. I combined the swirly, starry sky seen in some of Van Gogh's paintings, including Café Terrace at Night, alongside the cobblestone streets and tables. It was a very interesting assignment as I have never done something like this before.

Caiman & Frog Animal Merge - Adobe Photoshop Exercise

A quick Photoshop exercise we did in the fall of 2023 was to combine two animals so they would make a new, fictitious species. Using free-use websites provided by our professor, I took an image of a frog and combined it with a picture of a baby caiman. The color complexity of the frog and caiman were very similar, so it wasn't difficult to photoshop the caiman's head onto the frog's body. This exercise was pretty small compared to other projects we have done, but I was proud of how the picture turned out!

Saul Bass Posters - Adobe InDesign Final Project

The final project I had to do with an Adobe introductory course was two InDesign posters about a designer of our choice. One had to be more visual focus, embodying some of chosen-designer's style, and the other was meant to be more informative. I chose to do the designer Saul Bass since his style is very simplistic yet captivating. Some of his popular works consists of the posters from West Side Story and The Shining. It was fun to combine my skills in Photoshop and Illustrator to make this final piece!
